Bibliography:

Healy, W.B.  (1980)  Pauatahanui Inlet -- an environmental study.  DSIR Information Series 141.

(This is the report on "The Pauatahanui Environmental Programme" which was set up in the early 1970's with the objectives to "study the Pauatahanui Inlet of Porirua Harbour and its catchment area with the objectives of understanding the present environment or ecosystem, defining its sensitive features, producing data of assistance to planners to enable wise management of this natural resource as a viable entity, and establishing baselines for monitoring changes resulting from development".)

In addition to the science it also has a chapter on the early history of the Inlet.

Bofa Miskell (2000) The Pauatahanui Estuary and its catchment: a literature summary and review.  A Report for Wellington Regional Council and Porirua City Council.

This has an excellent digest of the literature that it reviews (which is virtually the whole lot that exists on the Inlet, except for the human historical and sociological bits).

Neither of the above is readily available, but both are kept in the archive of the Porirua City Library that deals with the Guardians and the Trust.
