The Pacific Island Community Trust Bay of Plenty (PICT) is a Charitable Trust that has been operating since May 2008. PICT is governed by a Board of Trustees.
Our Purpose
Our purpose is to improve the holistic wellbeing of Pacific communities. In practice, PICT provides a whole of family, wraparound service to community using Pacific models of care. Our mission is to create pathways for our Pacific communities to thrive. We deliver a whole range of services covering health, social services and education workshops/programmes. PICT also has a focus on community development, and we are supported by some awesome volunteers.
What we provide
We run a health & wellbeing clinic on a daily basis by appointment only, with the focus to administer all immunisation related vaccines. PICT is also working towards to achieving the Covid-19 vaccine rollout and administer. We also run programmes for nurses and social workers on their placements. PICT also works alongside and in partnership with Tai o Fenua (Pasifika ECE centre). Families that engage with our services/programmes are encouraged to enroll their children at Tai o Fenua if they are not enrolled anywhere – this helps to start our children’s education at an early childhood level.
PICT's services covers both the Tauranga & Western Bay of Plenty districts.
Community Development
PICT has a focus around community development at grass roots level. The Community Development Advisor works with leaders of the pacific communities to see what kind of support they need with events or other gatherings.
The Community Advisor attends workshops around community funding so she can share this with the pacific communities. The Community Development Advisor also manages the Food Rescue process from Good Neighbour – we support up to 10 different families every Fridays.
